A Landscape-Based Regional Design Approach for Sustainable Urban Development in the Pearl River Delta, China

Adaptive urban transformations employ landscape-based regional design as an integrative and multiscale planning approach for sustainable development. In this approach, natural dynamics derived from systems analysis set the pace nature of adaptation. This chapter presents initial strategy adaptive transformation in Pearl River Delta to illustrate potential form territorial governance that takes landscape basis steer urban–rural transformative processes through a combination sector activities towards more coordinated outcomes.
